In California, for the mobile washer, this would be a big undertaking. Capturing all the water and chemicals before they seep into the underground drinking supply or the storm drain. Filtering the stuff to meet or exceed the current requirements. This would be cost prohibit.

The only way I see this happening is by a structure that is designed for a car wash. The filters needing to be in place along with a good capturing system for just this type of task. Volume would be the key here in order to make a decent profit.

Hey Jim they are doing that here now. We lost a big contract last month because we cannot wash on the side of the road where they were doing construction anymore. It has to be done, away from the highway, so the company we were cleaning for said they did not care and they would do them theirselves and deal with the consequences at a later time. They had been told about it before, but they chose to ignore it and when we went out to clean one Saturday a State Trooper came by and told us we were not supposed to be doing it. We have tried many times to contact the correct departments for local and state government to find out what the rules are and no one knows anything or even what department handles that. Very frustrating.

We are. And when we degrease the engine its generally over the facilities sand trap.

there are affordable methods, and ridiculously expensive methods. We have come up with a custom system. I worked with engineers in SC to get it done. I have not tested the system but am confident it will work. MOBILE is the key! Jim is right the only way to provide a profitable and epa friendly service is to do volume. As Brad Paisley would say... "welcome to the future"

Used to do a lot of it now not so much construction projects are waaaaay down and a lot are trying to do it in house or the equipment is not moving.
